Terms, Conditions, and Cautions
Medical Restrictions and Cautions
We recommend that you consult with your health care professional before you begin this yoga or any excercise program. If you have the following conditions or situations, do not start this yoga program until you have consulted your health care professional, because complications could arise:
- Balance problems;
- Uncontrolled high blood pressure;
- Certain eye conditions, including glaucoma;
- Severe osteoporosis;
- Back injury;
- Recent surgery;
- Pregnancy or menstruation; or,
- Artificial joints.
Yoga does not cure PTSD, nor eliminate PTSD symptoms. Yoga practices are a valuable complement to professional treatment, and can support the healing process. Consult with your health care professional before you begin this program if you have concerns about whether this program will meet your needs.
Do not attempt any movement or posture you are not comfortable with. Stretching should be gentle and within your personal limit. Do not continue a stretch or pose if extreme discomfort or pain arises, and discontinue program until you consult with your health care professional.
When first starting yoga, you may feel some initial stiffness. This will likely dissipate as you become used to the various movements and postures. If soreness and stiffness do not dissipate, please consult with your health care professional before continuing with this program.
If you have high blood pressure, and your health care professional has authorized you to participate in this program, avoid inverted postures.
